No woman should have to carry a pregnancy to term just because she doesn't have the money to make another choice. More than twenty-five years after abortion was legalized in the landmark court decision of Roe v. Wade, the right to choose is still not an option for many low-income women and girls. The Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund, Inc. (EMA Fund) is committed to ensuring reproductive choice for all women. The EMA Fund is the only organization in eastern Massachusetts that gives direct financial assistance to women and girls who cannot afford abortion services. In 1999, the EMA Fund was able to help more than 70 women, granting over $12,000 to women in need. |
